Global Warming = Dangerous Cold???

In a world growing ever hotter, Huancavelica is an anomaly. These communities, living at the edge of what is possible, face extinction because of increasingly cold conditions in their own microclimate, which may have been altered by the rapid melting of the glaciers.

So many have sent this article, containing the above quote, to me this morning asking for a comment, I would like to oblige our readers.

The world, at least at present, is not getting warmer.  Temperatures peaked in 1998. The northern hemisphere is having a brutal winter.  The British Met Office, after forecasting a warmer than average winter (see above), now says it will be "the coldest winter in 100 years."

Yes, the climate is changing -- the climate always changes.  And, there will be winners and losers.  But our ability to diagnose, let alone forecast, "microclimate" (the term used in the article) changes is zero. We have no ability to do this.

The article is a political commentary and nothing else.
