What A Difference Two Weeks Makes

On July 31, most of Kansas west of I-35 was gripped by a severe drought. Since then, frequent thunderstorms have improved the situation considerably.

Note the spot in northeast Graham Co. with more than ten inches. If anything, amounts on this graphic are a little low in some places. My house has had 3.3" during this period and the graphic, which is created by combining radar and rain gauge data, shows us as having just under 3.0. More rain is likely in the region from tonight through Friday night.

The drought is not over, especially in the High Plains, but this helps considerably. Now, if we can just get these rains into Texas and New Mexico!
