Potential Flooding Threat

Over the next eight days, heavy rain is likely

European Model Rainfall Amount Forecast

U.S. Forecast Model (Run from 1pm CDT Data)

Here is the legend:

Typically, the European is the best single model but all three are showing the same general pattern: From north central Texas to Missouri and Illinois there is the potential for three to more than six inches of rain (purple color).

The problem is that, in many of these areas, heavy rains have fallen the past thirty days. A few areas have received more than eight inches.

So, if rainfalls are toward the upper end of the forecast amounts, there is the potential for flooding.  Might be a good idea to keep an eye on the weather starting this weekend if you live near a stream or in low-lying area.
