What it is Like to be in a Derecho

The above video was taken during Friday's derecho.  According to CNN this evening nearly 1.2 million homes and businesses are still without power from Chicago to Delaware.

What is a derecho? A long-lived windstorm (at least 250 miles in length) related to thunderstorms with periodic gusts of 65 mph or greater.

Many people are asking questions about the connection to global warming, why it is taking so long to get power back, etc. I've attempted to answer those questions here.

And, for more info about the derecho itself, click here.
