11:55pm Northeast Blizzard Update

Courtesy of Johnny Kelly, the photo shows two cars stuck in the snow in downtown Hartford in near whiteout conditions. Winds have gusted to 76 mph at Boston's Logan Airport. Fourteen inches of snow in Boston Common. Numerous trees are reported uprooted throughout the region.

AccuWeather Regional Radar at 11:47pm still shows the band of very heavy snow (dark blue) from Manchester south to Springfield then down along I-91 to the coast and across Long Island Sound. The heavy snow now covers most of LI and eastern boroughs of NYC.
States of emergency have been declared in five states. The number of homes and businesses without power is now well north of a half million. Power will be out for days or weeks.
