Perfect Time to Read "Warnings"

Warnings is the highly-acclaimed book about how the storm warning system was created and how many lives it saves. In the words of one reviewer, it "makes meteorologists into the most unlikely heroes in recent literature."

Consider this:
  • Last week, meteorologists warned of a "historic" blizzard in the Northeast. Check.
  • Late last week, we warned of a rare second blizzard in the northern Plains. In progress.
  • Tornado watch issued three hours before the first tornado warnings today. Yep!
All this isn't coincidence -- and no other nation has anything like it. Heroic (and I mean heroic in the sense of risk to their reputations and careers) weather scientists struggled against the odds to create the warning system that has served us so well the last five days.

new review says,
This is a great read, especially for "weather-geeks". I would highly recommend this. It is a page-turner that is impossible to put down.
