Winter Weather Update

I don't see many changes to the central U.S. winter storm outlook from my mid-afternoon posting (scroll down).

Here are a couple of interesting maps (via Dr. Ryan Maue) showing the ten day snow and ten day precipitation from the European model. Let's start with precipitation:

Those are rainfalls of more than seven inches along I-20 from Birmingham to Atlanta. If this proves to be correct, flooding may develop and the Southeast will receive another drenching.

Now, snowfall.
That is a whopping 28 inches on the Nebraska-South Dakota border. Obviously, if these forecasts are anywhere close to correct, it will help with the drought. And, there is yet another storm in the series that moves into the Plains immediately after this model run cuts off (i.e., day 11).
