Attention Wichita-Area Readers

I confirmed yesterday that Sedgwick County/Wichita tornado sirens will be sounded on a "path of the storm basis" this season rather than over the entire county. So, if you can hear the sirens, it means you personally should take cover.

The updated tornado forecast from the Storm Prediction Center still looks reasonable to me with the 5% area having a significant threat. Timing-wise, the most likely period for a tornado would be 5 to 10pm.

The air has become unstable enough, we have a small area of thunderstorms to the south of Wichita. They are moving northeast but I do not expect these to be come severe. The time of this radar image is 12:42pm.

I will be providing additional updates as this situation unfolds.
