In Car, In an Urban Area, In a Tornado

Screen capture of blinding rain and flying debris from New Jersey video.
An interesting video was posted on YouTube by a young woman who encountered a tornado in New Jersey yesterday. I am not embedding it because of the amount of profanity that I have no way of editing.

It does bring up an interesting question: What should you do in an urban area if in your car and there is no time to run into a (substantial) building?

The best advice is to pull well off the road but leave the car running if you have air bags. That way, if your car is lifted or something is slammed into your car the bags will give you some protection. Of course, leave your seat belts on but duck as low as possible. As soon as your comes to rest, turn the engine off.
