AMEM Conference Appearance Monday

Mike and I will be headed up north over the weekend to attend the 53rd Annual Conference of the Association of Minnesota Emergency Managers or AMEM on Sunday, September 15-17, 2013. Mike will be addressing the attendees on 3 occasions with his general session speech "How Storm Chasers and Emergency Managers Make Tornado Alley Safer." Mike is one of the first ever storm chasers and this conference is bittersweet as Mike is taking the place of Tim Samaras who was killed back in May while storm chasing in El Reno, Oklahoma. Mike intends to honor the memory of Tim's work and to shed new light on the topic of storm chasers and their important role in meteorological science.

Mike will also be speaking at two concurrent sessions later in the afternoon when he presents CSI: Meteorology-One Man's Quest to Save Lives" from his book WARNINGS: The True Story of How Science Tamed the Weather. Conference attendees will also be able to read the book as Mike is giving a copy to each member of the audience.

The conference will be held at the Breezy Point Resort on the beautiful shores of Pelican Lake just 140 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
