Sunday Feature: Cathedral of the Plains
If you have driven across western Kansas, you have almost certainly noticed the magnificent structure south of Interstate 70 in Ellis County. Dubbed the "Cathedral of the Plains" by William Jennings Bryan, its real name is St. Fidelis Catholic Church.
Today's Wichita Eagle has a great article about the church and the restoration of its magnificent stained glass windows.

Fascinating article. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in southwest Kansas, and have driven I-70 between Ellsworth and KC dozens of times, but never on west to Victoria, Hays, et al. Regret having missed this treasure.
