Winter Weather Update, 4pm CST

Winter storm warnings (pink) are now out from Kansas to Maine, including New York City.
Green is a flash flood watch in West Virginia and eastern Kentucky. Deep purple are ice storm warnings. The purple is a freezing rain advisory for travelers west of Washington, D.C.

Here is the forecast Sperry-Piltz Ice Storm Index. When you get to the deep orange, sporadic power failures are quite possible.

This storm will continue wreak havoc on the nation's airline system. I have a friend who is trying to get back from the Super Bowl. She was supposed to be here yesterday, now it will be tomorrow at the earliest.
